SURETEST ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF RAPID TEST TO DETECT NOVEL CORONAVIRUS IN AS LITTLE AS 15 MINUTES
Melbourne, VIC: Today, Suretest announced the availability of the SARS-CoV-2 Total Antibody test used to aid in the diagnosis of the COVID-19 disease. The test recently received approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for clinical use.
The SARS-CoV-2 Total Antibody test has been clinically validated during the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak in China and is suitable for rapid, on-site testing. The test works with whole blood, serum or plasma samples, and provides a clear answer within 15 minutes.
“With this rapid test, we want to help Australia fight the COVID-19 pandemic by delivering fast and accurate SARS-CoV-2 testing,” said Dr Peter Lewis, founder of Suretest. “As Dr Anthony Fauci highlights, one of the problems associated with tests that take several days to produce results is the possibility of an infected person going back into society and inadvertently infecting others. With the rapid test, we can get real time results, allowing us to proceed as quickly as possible with the necessary next steps on patients’ triage paths. We share Dr Fauci’s hope that these tests will help open our country back up.”
Typical acute antibody response is induced during the SARS-CoV-2 infection. The serology testing provides important complementation to RNA test for pathogenic specific diagnosis and helpful information to evaluate the adapted immunity status of a patient. Thus, it is strongly recommended to apply well-validated antibody tests in the clinical management and public health practice to improve the control of COVID-19 infection.
The SARS-CoV-2 Total Antibody test was developed by Beijing Wantai Biology Pharmacy Enterprise. Suretest has acquired exclusive rights to the sale of the test kits in Australia and New Zealand.
Suretest is the leading distributor for prominent rapid screen tests in Australia.
